HOW CAN I JOIN A CLASS?

Joining a S.C.A. Fortis class is possible for every student with an active membership at the TiU Sports Center. You can subscribe via the SC Tilburg Access application, you should search for ‘Crosstraining’.

You don’t have to bring anything other than a towel, water, and a good amount of positive energy! Want to know when and where our classes are held? Take a look at our ‘Classes and Locations’ page!

WHAT IS S.C.A. FORTIS?

S.C.A. Fortis is a student sports association at the Tilburg University Sports Center. The association was founded in 2019 by a group of friends that absolutely loved crosstraining! We offer crosstraining classes to all members of the Tilburg University Sports Centre. Besides getting sweaty, we love to host activities and have fun together!

WHAT IS CROSSTRAINING?

Crosstraining is a form of functional fitness that combines strength training with conditioning. Within trainings, we combine gymnastics, (Olympic) weightlifting, athletics and high intensity training. And the best thing is… no class is ever the same! Workouts will be different everytime you join a class, so you definitely won’t get bored of training with us! This all might sound very intense, but you don’t have to worry about being super strong and fit before joining our classes. Crosstraining is accessible for all fitness-levels! Don’t hesitate, come and try it out!

WHAT DOES A TRAINING LOOK LIKE?

Our classes take place at the Bootcamp field of the Tilburg University Sports Centre, or at T-kwadraat (Stappegoor). A class always starts with an easy warm-up, which includes some cardio and mobility work to get our muscles ready!


After getting our bodies all warmed up, we start with some strength or skill work. Think about barbell- or dumbbell exercises such as squats, push presses or deadlifts. We also do Olympic Weightlifting from time to time, which involves the Clean & Jerk or the Snatch. Our trainers are always there to help you out! Wether you have never done the exercises before, or you just want some extra tips for perfecting your form. All levels are included!


After some strength training, we always end the class with a high intensity WOD (workout of the day). These workouts look very different from class to class. However, you will sure be sweaty and exhausted afterwards! In a WOD, strength exersises are combined with high intensity cardio exercises (such as running, burpees, or rowing). You do these workouts at your own pace, so the only one who challenges you is you!

We always end a class with a cool-down, a high-five, some chatting, and sometimes even some drinks!

WHAT KINDS OF ACTIVITIES DOES S.C.A. FORTIS ORGANISE?

S.C.A. Fortis organises all types of fun activities! Think of a cycling-dinner where we show off our cooking skills, or a fun trip to a trampoline park. On top of these smaller activities, we organise the Fortis Weekend once a year. This is a weekend jam-packed with friends, drinks and workouts! Besides all these fun things, we organise drinks at Café Polly Magoo every other month!
